. new books we recommend
One of the best parts of being a bookseller is recommending books to our customers! Here are some picks from our summer recommendations.
Non-Fiction …
Good Good Pig
by Sy Montgomery
In this enchanting book, Sy reveals what she and others learned from this generous soul who just happened to be a pig - lessons about self-acceptance, the meaning of family, the value of community, and the pleasures of the sweet, green Earth.
Hardcover Fiction …
The New Yorkers
by Cathleen Schine
Of course a dog-friendly store would recommend a dog-friendly book! The New Yorkers takes place on a quiet little block near Central Park with a cast of memorable humans and even more memorable dogs.

Beach Read …
Life's a Beach
by Claire Cooke
Claire Cook's characters are lovably imperfect, full of humor and have big hearts. Ginger Walsh is no exception. A 41 year old who still hasn’t figured out what to be, where to live or who to live with. Throw in a film crew, a sister obsessed with turning 50, a cat named “Boyfriend” and realtors who just happen to be red hatters, and you’ve got the perfect book for a relaxing day at the beach.

. down in the used book cellar

We love having your canine companions come hang out in the store. We are also really excited about Catie Copley coming to storytime, so this week we are highlighting some dog books we found down in the ubc. Some of the selections we chose were:
Living with Dogs by Henry and Mary Ellen Korman
The Art of Raising a Puppy by The Monks of New Skete (?!)
The Dog Listener by Jan Fennell
Help! My Puppy is Driving Me Crazy by Diana Delmar
Teaching Your Dog to Behave by Bashkim Dibra
Housetraining for Dummies by Susan McCullough

The used book cellar is open for shopping during regular store hours,
Monday-Saturday 9-9 and Sunday 11-6.

. in the gift aisle

rooster & ladybug timers
These bright, cheerful timers caught my eye as I was wandering through the gift aisle today. Put one in your kitchen - guaranteed to make you smile!

We are happy to welcome our new gift buyer and merchandiser, Alexa, to the Wellesley Booksmith. (I'll get her picture next time!)

. dog of the week

Catie Copley
We can't wait to meet the famous Catie Copley and her owner, Jim Carey. Come to storytime this Friday at 10:30am and meet her for yourself!

Catie Copley has a very special job - she is canine ambassador at a big, beautiful hotel in Boston. She lives with Jim, who also works at the hotel, and spends her days in the lobby, sleeping, greeting people, chasing balls, and sleeping some more.
